TidyCards

TidyCards was a web application that I co-founded to easily organize and share online resources (articles, videos and any kind of content with meta data).

Introduced before the rise of tools like Notion, the application combined the flexibility of note-taking apps with the efficiency of a browser's bookmarking system.

While the public platform is now closed, the project lives on as my primary experimental sandbox for design and coding.

First versions in 2015

From the very first versions in 2015, the goal was to go beyond simple URL copy-pasting. The interface allowed users to create lists by setting a title, description, and image, then adding links enriched with text and captions.

On the development side, this project required building a robust architecture:

• Front-end: Built with the latest version of Angular at the time.
• Back-end: Powered by NodeJS.
• Ecosystem: Integration of several advanced external tools such as AWS, MongoLab, Algolia (for search) and Heroku (for hosting).

Full redesign in 2023-2024

In 2023-2024, I undertook a complete UI redesign, channeling the knowledge and expertise I've accumulated over the past 10 years into this single project. Moving away from fragmented screens, I built a comprehensive Design System from the ground up.

This allowed me to significantly elevate the quality and consistency of the application.

• Components: I crafted a robust library of reusable components. By establishing strict rules for spacing, typography and interactions, I ensured structural consistency across every single page.
• Variables and modes: I built a flexible token structure to manage light and dark modes, using Figma's newest features (at the time).
• Visual cohesion: By relying on this unified system, the final interface is clean, modern and consistent across all user journeys.

Exploring new collaborative features

Beyond the visual update, this redesign was an opportunity to imagine the product's evolution to meet current content curation expectations. I prototyped and explored a series of new community‑focused features:

• Team Spaces: The ability to create collaborative lists and collections.
• Discovery: Implementation of public profiles and a "Discover" page to highlight top curators and trending topics.
• Engagement: Integration of a likes and comments system to make lists sharing more interactive.

My personal sandbox

Although the project wasn't heavily promoted, it proved its usability and maintained a loyal user base during its active public lifecycle. Today, even though the public site is closed, TidyCards has evolved into my ultimate experimental playground.

I continue to actively build upon this project to refine my design skills, test out the newest features on Figma and practice front‑end & back‑end development.

It remains a living codebase and design file where I can freely iterate and break things.

As a next step, I plan to update the design system to implement Figma's recently added component slots.
